Days 307 to 357 – Where did September go?

Days 307 to 357 – Three Weeks Off, Weights, Bootcamp, 5K’s, CardioX, Cardio-Funk, Plyometrics, Yoga and Fitwall

I took three glorious weeks off because I wanted to. I decided not too let it bother me. So what I wasn’t going to the gym! I needed a little time off. My fiance thought something was wrong with me. He kept on reading motivational workout quotes to get me to go to the gym. Like a little 2 year old having a temper tantrum, I stormed out of the room shouting, “NO MORE MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES!!!”

I enjoyed my time off. Then on week 4 I decided to come back from my hibernation. I had a lot of cardio this month. I’m doing it on purpose to make sure I fit into that darn dress. Did I mention that my dress boutique ordered me one size smaller??? Yeap. Way to make me want to keep the weight off.

Here is my workout for all weeks:

Week 4: weights, bootcamp and 5K

Week 5: weights and more weights

Week 6: cardioX, 5K, cardio-funk and plyometrics

Week 7: weights, yoga and FitWall

I’m on my last leg of the 1 year workout…yippieee!!!

For some weird reason when I add it all up, the day before the wedding is “Day 369”. I must have counted my days wrong. Anyhow, you get the point. I started working out last year on exactly October 13, 2011. My goal of working out for a year to live healthier, become stronger and better is coming to a “wordpress end”. The next two weeks before the weeding are going to be nutso. I know this by the way my calendar already looks. Meetings here and there, flowers, cakes, last dress fitting/alterations, hair, etc, etc, etc. I think my workouts will become my de-stresser.

Good night!

Days 286 to 306 – Three Weeks

Days 286 to 306 – Pump Class, Working Out with an Elite Trainer, Weights and P90X

Tomorrow will be exactly 2 months until we get married. I’m still going to the gym to do a class here and there, lift weights, working out with a trainer and using P90X at home with my fiance. All in the name of holding on to my workout routine. I have lost 10 lbs since I first started. I’ve toned my body and lost body fat too. I’m at a stage where I can say I’m proud! I wear a bikini every work day and feel completely comfortable. I swim twice a day with the campers – the bonus of working at a camp this summer. It keeps me active outdoors.

Hurray for Summer!!!

Days 250 to 285 – The Month I didn’t Write but Still Worked Out

Days 250 to 285 – Yoga, Bootcamp Sessions, Injuries, Healing Week, Weights, Running, Working Out with my Bro, Pump Classes and P90X

So I admit it…mea culpa! I haven’t touched my laptop in over a month. Why? Just plain lazy for writing this month. Hey, it happens to all writers…doesn’t it??? Oh well, it happened to me.

To sum up the last bit of June and some of my July, I had an amazing and challenging week 1. I went to a yoga session that was relaxing. Then Saturday morning I took my fiance to the Bootcamp class. I ended up injuring my iliotibial band (aka ITband). It hurt like hell! I didn’t pretend to be a superhero. I cheered him on to complete the last 20 minutes of the Bootcamp class while I waddled around. I went home after class and iced it for the rest of the night every 20 minutes for 10 minutes each time. I also looked up some stretches to do on youtube. Giving my body time to recover was key. I took week 2 off to let my body heal well. I was back on week 3 with weights and running. Week 4 was the first week in a llllllllllllllong time my lil’ bro had asked me to work out with him. I really was curious to see what this kid could do now that he’s all grown up. Week 5 was pretty much a mixture of Pump classes and P90X. I just exercised as much as I could with my hectic schedule. True story…I even tried exercising on days I was so tired from work I was nearly sleep walking. It’s happened two times already, I was so tired after I came home from work I changed into my gym clothing and fell asleep on my bed right after. I woke up at 10pm or 11pm in a panic because I knew I had dozed off.

I guess my new pyjama is my workout clothing now! 🙂

Days 237 to 243 – My hero and inspiration

Days 237 to 243 – 4K run, Weights and Power Yoga

What inspires me? Hillary Swank running on the beach does!!! Seriously, look at all her hard work. From what I know, this was during her training for Million Dollar Baby. A-mazing!

This is the picture that gets me up to do Power Yoga, running and to lift some weights this week. I think my cardio is wayyyy better than a few months back. I’m doing level 7 now. Yay for cardio!

My goal for weights this week was to focus on my arms. I worked these puppies well. So well I was having a bit of a challenge doing yoga the following day. My instructor even came up to me and in a taunting kind of way said, “Arms getting tired already?”. I pushed through all the planks, low planks, side planks and every arm yoga position he threw at me. I shook like crazy, but I did it. All I kept thinking about was Hillary and how strong she looked. Hey, if she can do it…I CAN DO IT!

Days 216 to 222 – My Outdoorsy Days

Days 216 to 222 – 5K, Weights and Hills/Stairs Training

If you didn’t spend at least 1 day outside this whole week, you need to kick yourself in the tush right now. I’m serious!!! It was the best weather to run, walk, play, exercise and just plain HAVE FUN outside. On Wednesday I decided to run a 5K right after work. It de-stresses me every single time. I forget about any little problems and I have new perspective too. Friday night was my indoors day – AKA weight lifting day. I’m slowly going back to lifting my heavier weights. I felt pretty strong, so this encourages me. I did a 20 minute cardio climb, followed by a 1 hour weight lifting session.

Since I spent the weekend at a friend’s house, she and I went for a little jog to the park near her place. When we got there we hit the hills and stairs and focused on doing as many as we could. I found it very difficult to catch my breath. I’m having some sinus issues recently. My fiance thinks I might have allergies. Phhsssss…yeah right! I have never, EVER, had allergies in my life…please don’t tell me I’ll start now! That doesn’t sound like fun. Right after our run we took turns coming up with ab workouts. Time really flew by because by the time we got home an hour had passed by.

Enjoy the weather people! Get out there and have fun.

Days 195 to 201 – Rush, rush, rush

Day 195 to 201 – Cardio Circuit, Yoga, Weights and Rock Climbing

Ok…so I came home at 1am on Sunday night. I technically missed my Sunday update. I’m learning to accept the fact that sometimes I can’t walk around with a laptop or update the blog using my iphone (I can’t underline and upload as quickly as I would like). Anyhow, I’m technically doing this Monday. I’m sure I’ll be forgiven for this 😀

I had a super busy week. I did manage to fit in a great Cardio Circuit workout that was challenging and fun. I did a relaxing Yoga session the day after and was glad I did because my legs had taken a beating from all the squats and burpees. I was able to do a challenging weight workout. I increased the weights just a tad. Nothing too crazy. I might still be a bit timid about adding too much for fear of getting injured again. Last, but definitely not least…I rocked climbed Sunday for 3 hours. I loved it. I had 2 really challenging climbs and loved every second of it. I went to Rock Oasis indoor climbing gym. They have a new facility at Dundas and Carlaw. Here is their website: www.rockoasis.com

Days 190 to 194 – Short Week

Days 190 to 194 – 5K Walk, Weights and Cardio

The reason this is a “short week” is because I’m including my workouts from Wednesday on. I already talked about the rest of the week in my past post. When the weather was amazing on Wednesday I called my mamacita and asked her to go for a brisk walk with me. We decided to go around a different area in our neighbourhood and ended up finding a nice lookout point. Saturday was my weights day. I’m still using what I learned from Bang Fitness and mixing that into my workouts. I felt it was a challenge since I hadn’t done this in over 3 weeks. Today (Sunday), was my cardio day. I did a 10k elliptical interval training session. My legs are feeling a bit tired tonight, but I’m glad I did it. I feel like I’m getting back to prioritizing my workouts.

Days 175 to 189 – Aprilmania

Days 175 to 189 – Cardio Circuit, Yoga, 5K runs, Stepper and Weights

I really can’t believe I haven’t written a blog entry in 15 days! April is bananas!!! I’m now working 10 hour shifts at the school. I also started an AQ course at York University that is taking up 2 hours of my day every other day. Add to that planning a wedding and let me see…oh yeah…sleeping, eating, etc. I feel like April is one of the busiest months so far. That aside I must admit that I haven’t been working out as much as I would like to.

In total I worked out 3-4 days a week. I managed to do:

2- Cardio Circuit classes

1- Yoga class

2- 5K runs

1- Stepping session

1- Weight lifting session

I know I have to prioritize my workouts more…honestly though…I feel like I might be going through some gym blah’s. I need to feel excited about working out again. I’m probably just itching for more guidance. I need some serious motivation. Because of this, I’ve been thinking about shopping around for a new gym. I need a gym to offer more than just Zumba for women. I should be able to lift some weights and feel that the equipment is accessible to me at all times. At the moment I don’t feel this at my gym. I’ve even requested a black foam roller and have yet to see it. We have a soft white one that just doesn’t cut it. I’m sure if you read my past blogs you’ll know how much in love I am with these bad boys. Since April is so busy and this will probably continue to be crazy until school ends in June, I’ve decided to write a blog every week. The every day blog is nice, but at this point I can’t juggle it. I’ll do a blog every Sunday and talk about that week’s workout schedule and any news.
