Day 111 – What Shortcut???

Day 111 – Six Pack Shortcuts

I’m officially sick again.  I don’t mean to be a whino about it.  I’m actually shocked that I am.  I don’t think I’ve been sick this often before.  Anyhow, I just gotta deal with it.  I took my Buckleys and thought about going to bed…but then I thought about working out.  If I don’t work out I’ll probably lay awake in bed just thinking about working out.  Dang it!!!

There was this youtube video I saw a while back that got my curiousity.  You know one of those 10 minute workouts that promise to be great.  Yeap….those ones.  I searched for one that actually looked interesting.  One that I thought I could do without any weights or any other equipment.  I found this one and I gotta say…not too bad.

It’s by Six Pack Shortcuts.  The main idea is to do as many push-ups, squats and crunches as you think you can possibly do.  I gave myself the same goals that Virginia (girl in video) does: 100 push-ups, 150 squats and 100 crunches.  I would have to say that this was actually worth my while.  I felt like I pushed myself…despite this cough and cold.

Now I’m ready for bed.

Day 110 – Lakeridge

Day 110 – Ski Trip (Hill Climbing)

My school was going on a Ski Trip and I was all ready to go get some exercise while skiing with the students.  Then I was informed that I was needed with the super beginner students.  We’re talking magic carpet munchkins.  Oh well! So much for my ski day.  Instead of wasting a solid day outdoors riding the magic carpet up and down I decided to still get some exercise while on the hills.  I walked up and down the hills with the kids.  I even ran after some of them to make sure they didn’t run into any trees.  The other teachers must have thought that I completely lost it when they saw me walking right along side the magic carpet.  I refused to hop on until the very end when we had to go line up for the bus.  This may sound easy at first, but try doing it 10 times in a row.

While I was there I realized I haven’t done ANY Winter sports in a while.  I think we need to revisit some things this coming weekend.

Day 109 – I Break for Free Furniture

Day 109 – Break

Yesterday night at a party I kept talking to a few people about the wedding planning.  I’m in the middle of figuring out how I want to decorate the venue.  I’m a woman on a mission to do it by myself.  I kept telling everyone how I want a thin wooden table for the guest book and other decorative pieces.  No joke.  I had visualized this puppy down to the height and length.

While driving back home this morning I spotted a lonely table outside…just sitting by the garbage area.  I did a quick u-turn and took that table as soon as I could.  I was doing a little happy dance when I was able to fit it in my car.  The drive home wasn’t far…just less than a block away.  I couldn’t believe someone wanted to throw this out…but I was glad they did.  It’s in mint condition.  It’s going to fit perfectly in the venue.  I’m considering sanding it down and either re-staining it or painting it a different colour.  Don’t know yet.  We’ll see.

BEST BREAK DAY EVER!!!

Day 108 – Getting to the Core of It

Day 108 – Core Synergistics

After a nice, refreshing and healthy breakfast, my fiance and I were ready to start our day with a Core Synergistics workout.  We pushed our way through the workout.  I almost sang HALLELUJAH!!! when I managed to do the “chattaranga push-up” and move to a regular plank from there.  In your face chattaranga push-up!!!  I did it 8 times!  I feel stronger and stronger.  Just like Tony said: “I used to struggle with…(exercise move here), now I don’t”, and if you are currently struggling with it, just say: “I currently struggle with…(exercise move).”  It makes much more sense to do this.  Why beat yourself over it.  Patience…patience…currently struggling just means you will do it when you are ready.

Day 107 – Dances of India

Day 107 – Bollyfit

Woke up early and my eyes were not ready yet…but my legs were.  I started my lovely Bollyfit workout and felt happy knowing I was dancing this early in the morning.

Yes! I’m a morning person.

I know this may annoy my fiance and some other people out there.  I can’t help it.  It runs in my family.  I guess it’s all because my dad was always up early making breakfast, reading his newspaper and getting ready to go out to play tennis.

I feel more ready to start my day now…with a little bounce.

By the way, for others who may want to try a little Bollywood styles, try searching on www.amazon.com for “Bollywood workout” and you’ll find some DVD’s that may interest you.  Plus, you can always rely on www.youtube.com and search for “Bollywood dance workout”.  Some sample workouts are great to get started and see if you want to purchase the DVD’s.  Here are some I found:

Day 106 – A Quick One

Day 106 – Mini-workout (15 minutes)

Even though I worked straight from 8am until 6pm today…then rushed to Marriage classes and drove home for 1 hour…I still found something to do.  Thanks to another blogger, “BL” (http://whatifoundwhilewalkingaround.com/2012/01/26/awkward/), I was set for tonight’s quick workout.

The only thing I wasn’t sure of was if I did the back stretch part correct.  The rest was all good.

Thanks BL!

Day 105 – Suckie Workout

Day 105 – Turbo Jam (demo)

On my search for something different I found an old email I received from Beachbody.  They had sent me a 20 minute demo for Turbo Jam.  I wanted to try it out.  So, I downloaded the demo and got ready for what I thought was going to be a fun, quick and hard workout.  It was one of the worst workouts ever.  Maybe it’s me…did I do this workout right??? Did I flex how I was suppossed to?  What happened?

The other thing was that I really, REALLY don’t enjoy an instructor that is wayyyyyyyyyyyy too fake.  The extra cheesy stuff got under my skin.  I can’t help it.  This chick was a bit too much for me.

I don’t know.  This was a real dissappointing workout.  I’ll search for different ones, but as far as Turbo Jam goes…they lost me.

Day 104 – Just What I Needed

Day 104 – Yoga

I took the day off today.  My fiance had a scheduled eye surgery at the hospital this morning.  He had a small cyst on his upper eyelid that he was getting removed.  I sat with him in the waiting room and chatted it up with an older lady we met.  Pretty soon two hours went by and still no surgery.  By the time they got to us most of the people in the waiting room were gone.  We were tired and hungry.  I could tell that he was a bit nervous.  That’s when my supportive side comes out big time.  I remember trying to remind him about all the reasons why it’s a GOOD idea to get this sucker out now.

I asked the doctor if I could sit in while they do the small operation.  He asked me if I was ok with blood.  I said confidently that I was.  It’s true.  I’m not the type to faint at the sight of it.  I found the whole thing amazing.  Weird and scary for some…cool to watch for me.  I did feel soooooo very bad for all the pain that it caused my fiance, but when you look at the pros and cons of it I would pick the pain.  He is better without this little annoying cyst on his eye.

Now, moving on.  I felt like I could sneak a little bit of yoga at night time.  I needed to relax after a long day in the hospital.  I hit the pillow with a smile on my face.

Day 103 – Getting to Know Joe

Day 103 – Pilates

I had a little of lower back pain this morning.  Listen to your body people.  I wasn’t going to go out and run a 5K or try to lift some nutso amount of weight.  I did what Joe Pilates would have wanted me to do…work on my core.

I know some people already who he was, but here is a little Wiki info on him.

My back is feeling better thanks to him.

Enjoy,

Millie

Day 102 – Almost Didn’t Do It!….Almost…

Day 102 – Power Yoga (P90X)

I almost caved.  ALMOST.  I was thinking of letting my Sunday be a “Lazy Sunday”.

I gave myself until 8pm and that was when we started our Power Yoga workout.

Let me tell you why I’m glad I did yoga.

1. I felt more flexible after

2. I felt more relaxed…bye to stress

3. I felt tired…I was going to sleep like a champ later on

4. It improves circulation

5. It’s a great way to meditate

6. Because I love it!
